The Story &
The Mission.
XenevaOS started as a hobby kernel project about five years ago. Today, it is a full-fledged mission to develop an indigenous, modern operating system featuring a custom hybrid kernel built entirely from the ground up in India.
While technological sovereignty is a major factor for us, the OS is built for real-world utility. We want to solve the computing bottlenecks that mature operating systems face today, especially for XR (AR/VR) use cases.
About Us
Manas Kamal Choudhury started XenevaOS in 2020 just for the love of operating systems. He started learning programming and OS development back in 2016 with one goal: to build his own OS someday. But even as a hobby, he always wanted it to cater to practical applications, not just sit on a GitHub repo.
Later on, Ayushmaan Bora joined the picture. Ayushmaan was looking to build a ground-up OS for XR devices so they could run natively and standalone. He found Manas on Reddit through some posts on r/osdev and r/developersIndia and reached out to team up. The timing just clicked - Manas was looking to take XenevaOS full-time and find a real-world market fit. We hit it off immediately and formed Xeneva Private Limited to push the OS and the hardware vision forward.
We aren't just a duo anymore. We’ve built a small, tight-knit community and are actively putting together our core founding team. If you're reading this, consider it your sign to jump in. 😉
The
Vision.
To keep it brief, our vision comes down to two major pillars.
A Mature Modern OS
An open-source OS project with an active community and support across multiple devices and architectures. We are actively figuring out ways to solve the deep-rooted problems in current kernels.
An XR-Native Kernel & OS
XR is our priority niche. We are building the best possible kernel for spatial computing. The end goal is a full-fledged OS that gives you everything a smartphone does, but through a spatial interface, running natively on a thin pair of standalone glasses. We want to replace smartphones.
Building the Foundation
We have a basic GUI up and running, but right now, all of our engineering efforts are hyper-focused on building out our Aurora kernel and deriving the necessary benchmarks.
Why
Join Us?
In a world full of companies chasing traditional capitalistic metrics, we do things differently. Honestly, part of that is just because we're an early-stage startup and can't operate like a tech giant. But we also genuinely view this as a deep-tech project. We care more about building novel tech than just generating sheer monetary value.
The Reality
We aren't highly liquid right now. If you just want a massive paycheck on day one, this isn't the project for you. We will match industry pay once we hit that stage, but right now, we need people whose goals aren't solely money.
The Upside
Joining us means getting deep, hands-on experience at the kernel level. We provide certifications for all roles, and if you join the founding team, you get a real stake and your name attached to something massive.
Who We Seek
OS Developers / Low-Level Engineers
The folks actually writing the OS and the kernel. The more, the merrier. Low-level engineers and OS developers with C/C++ expertise are highly preferred.
Hardware Engineers
If tinkering with circuits is your thing, this is your domain. PCB design, conceptualizing components, and crazy hardware ideas for modern XR tech - you're welcome here.
Design (UI/UX)
We are deep in the kernel right now, but when we launch our XR version, it’s going to be incredibly user-space heavy. Spatial UI/UX is going to make or break it. Even for the base OS, we want a clean, modern interface. If UI/UX is your cup of tea, send us an email.
Creativity
Video editing, content writing, and similar roles. We are tech folks, but you can't build in a vacuum. We hate forced paid ads; we believe in organic growth and building in public. We need creative people to help share what we're doing with the community.
How to Join Us
Write us a brief email telling us about yourself and why you’d like to join us. A formal corporate resume isn’t strictly required, but attaching a one-pager about yourself will give us the context we need!
